A Hot & Spicy Chilly Chutney
Ingredients:
- Green Chillies - A cupful or 100 gms ( cleaned & De-stalked)
- Tamarind - marble sized
- Salt - Acc to taste
Tempering:
- Gingelly oil - 2 Tbspn
- Fenugreek seed/Methi seed/Vendhayam - 1 tsp
- Mustard - 1 tsp
- Curry leaves (torn) - 10/15 leaves
- Urad Dal/Black gram/Ulatham Paruppu - 1 tsp
Process:
Grind the cleaned and destalked green chillies in a blender along with salt & Tamarind adding little water.
Ground coarsely. Keep aside
In a wok, heat gingelly oil, add mustard seeds. when the mustard seeds splutter, add urad daal, fenugreek seeds,torn curry leaves. when the dal and fenugreek seeds have turned color add the green chilli paste. Stir on low flame..check for salt & sourness.. stir until oil separates.
Your Green chilly thokku is ready!!
Best served with Curd rice, Dosai, Chappati, sandwich
N:B - Heat the oil in medium flame and then lower it while adding the chilly paste.
If the chutney is too spicy for your palate, add crushed jaggery while frying. The sweetness of jaggery will take the edge off the hotness of chilly.
