Mind Your Own Business Says Fugio Cent - The Official Penny From United States

The Fugio cent was designed by Benjamin Franklin. On April 21, 1787, the congress of the confederation of the United States authorized the design for the Fugio cent. The official copper penny became popular  as Fugio Cent because of  the image of the sun shining down on the sun dial with the words "Fugio."

Fugio means I flee or I fly in Latin. The coin had a message put down at the bottom, it says "Mind Your Business". The image and the words seem to denote that time flies and do your work on time.

Some historians believe that the word "business"was meant literally as Benjamin Franklin was a highly influential and successful business man himself. Some others believe that it  symbolizes both the monetary and social business.

The reverse side bears the motto,"we are one" with 13 interlinked chains. The thirteen circles stands for the original 13 colonies of America.
